Praise Ugbede Adejo is Nigerian R&B , Soul , songwriter, producer and singer who is popularly recognised as Praiz . He was born on the 8 of March 1984 and he started his music career when he emerged the second runner-up at the maiden season of Project Fame West Africa which Iyanya won . He became famous after he released some decent tracks like “Rich and Famous”, “Sisi” , “I Love You” and ‘Oshey’ featuring , Awilo Logomba . He contributed guest vocals to Bez’s 2011 single “That Stupid Song”; the music video for the aforementioned song went on to be the first African video to make a world premiere on BET’s 106 & Park.
Praiz who is currently signed to X3M Music is from Kogi State and a native of Igala in the state , he was born and bred in Lagos but they relocated to Kaduna in 1992 after his father was transferred there on a missionary mission . The X3M Music act is the second child from the family of four . He attended Kaduna Polytechnic where he had his National Diploma in Computer Science .
Praiz started getting use to music when he joined childrens choir in their church and he started singing in their church choir because his parents are clergy people , his father is a pastor and as a son of a pastor he had to follow the footstep of his father . Praiz does not only sing in his church choir , he was also playing drums as well . He is one of those regular kids that grew up listening to the likes of Barry White , Michael Jackson, BoyzIIMen, John Legend, Carl Thomas and Joe . The singer has also revealed that he got his musical influences from these musicians as he was growing up .
In a recent interview , Praise Ugbede Adejo who is better known as Praiz revealed that his early ambition was never to become a musician but it was all like a joke when he found himself doing music professionally . After the MTN Project Fame try in 2008 and emerging the second runner-up , he decided not to go back to Kaduna as he stayed back in Lagos to pursue his music career there because there were more chances of greener pastures in Lagos than in any other Nigerian cities . Praiz is said to have been in the Nigeria Music World for over 12 years now but nobody ever knew him not until he emerged as second runner-up in the highly viewed musical reality show, MTN Project Fame in 2008 . The singer is one of Nigeria’s most hardworking musician and he has worked with big names like Wizkid, Cobhams Asuquo, Bez, Awilo Longomba, M.I, Efa and many more .
Praiz’s voice is easily identified whenever he is singing and he doesn’t do much of shouting song because his songs are always cool and they are ideal music on a hot afternoon talking about the normal Nigeria noon weather . The singer has dubbed by many as Nigeria’s John Legend because of his unique voice and partern of singing .
